Standards and Protocols Committee
The purpose of the Northeast Seed Network's Standards and Protocols Committee is to gather and organize resources to develop best practices, standards, and protocols that will support regional hubs, partnerships, and the broader network in improving access to native seed and plant materials. Key focus areas include data collection, management, and sharing (ensuring both data protection and public access), propagation protocols, seed cleaning and storage, wild collection and handling, seed and plant increase strategies, and seed distribution. The committee also addresses seed testing, labeling, certification, seed transfer zones, and compliance, providing a comprehensive framework to guide sustainable practices and ensure the genetic integrity and accessibility of plant materials across the region.
